1. About this policy
This policy explains how Desktop Delinquents handles information when you use its Windows desktop pets and accompanying tools.
It covers application preferences, file shortcuts, the focus timer, screen text recognition, saved text snippets, reminders, custom dialogues and diagnostic logs.
“We”, “us” and “our” refer to the publisher identified above. This policy covers the application. Our website, Microsoft Store and other services may have separate privacy policies.
2. Our approach to privacy
Desktop Delinquents performs its main functions locally on your computer. No application account is required.
The current application does not include advertising networks, analytics SDKs, automatic diagnostic uploads or a publisher-operated cloud storage service. It does not automatically send your saved text, reminders, dialogues, file shortcuts, screenshots or recognised text to us.
We do not sell your personal information or use application content for targeted advertising.
Local processing still involves access to information. The following sections describe that access.
3. Information the application processes
Settings and focus sessions
The application saves preferences such as your selected pets, interface language, dialogue language, sound settings and keyboard shortcut.
It also stores the end time of an active focus session so that the session can be handled after restarting the application.
File and folder shortcuts
Biscuit’s Fetch tool stores the paths of files, folders and applications you choose. These paths may contain personal information, such as a Windows username or document name.
The tool stores shortcuts rather than copies of the selected files. When you open an item, the application asks Windows to open its original location. The receiving application handles that item according to its own behaviour and privacy practices.
Snippets, reminders and dialogues
The application stores content you deliberately enter or import, including:
- Snippet titles, text and favourite selections.
- Reminder text and scheduled times.
- Custom dialogue questions, answers and associated settings.
- Imported dialogue entries.
Reminder text may appear in Windows notifications, and dialogue text appears in speech bubbles. Anyone who can see your screen or notifications may see that content.
Screen text recognition
Screen capture begins when you explicitly choose to scan an area.
The application first captures a still image of the selected display in memory so that you can draw a selection rectangle. This initial image may include other information visible on that display.
The selected region is then processed locally using the Windows OCR engine through a bundled Windows PowerShell helper. A temporary image of the selected region and a temporary text result are written to your Windows temporary-files location.
The application does not send these images or results to us or to a cloud OCR service. Recognised text is displayed for you to review, edit and copy locally.
The application attempts to delete temporary files after processing completes, fails or is cancelled. A crash, forced shutdown or file-access failure may leave temporary files behind.
There is no continuous screen recording or background OCR scanning.
Clipboard interaction
The application writes text to the Windows clipboard when you choose a Copy action. It does not continuously monitor the clipboard or automatically collect a clipboard history.
You may also paste text into the application’s editing fields yourself.
Copied text is subject to your Windows clipboard settings, including clipboard history or synchronisation if enabled, and may be accessible to other applications.
Desktop and window information
To position pets, support optional File Explorer ledges and detect fullscreen applications, the application accesses display geometry and limited window information. This includes window boundaries, visibility, window classes, handles and process identifiers.
These checks do not continuously read document contents or perform OCR on other windows.
The application responds to configured global keyboard shortcuts. It does not record general typing activity.
Diagnostic logs
The application keeps local diagnostic logs to help investigate faults. Entries may include:
- Timestamps, application version and process identifiers.
- Uptime and timing gaps.
- Pet and management-window visibility.
- Manual pause and fullscreen-detection states.
- Exception messages and stack traces.
Logs are not intended to record your saved content. However, exception details may incidentally contain file paths or other contextual information.
The current log rotates at approximately 256 KB and retains one previous log. Individual entries may cause that threshold to be exceeded.
Logs are not uploaded automatically. The diagnostic export command saves a file to a location you choose. Review exported information before sharing it, you are solely responsible for what exists in the log file. We will never ask you to share the log file.
4. Storage, retention and security
Settings and saved content are stored in local files associated with your Windows user profile. For an unpackaged installation, the usual location is:

Windows may redirect storage for a packaged installation.
Files may include settings.json, dialogues.json, pet-utilities.json, runtime logs and dialogue migration backups.
Saved content generally remains until you change or delete it, remove the relevant data files, or Windows removes it. Exported files and copies managed by backup or synchronisation software have separate retention behaviour.
The current application stores JSON data and logs without application-level encryption. Protection depends on your Windows account permissions, device security and any disk encryption you use. Desktop Delinquents is not designed as a password vault or secure storage for highly sensitive information.
5. Sharing and Microsoft services
The application does not automatically share your locally saved content with us.
Information may leave your device when you independently choose to send an exported dialogue pack, diagnostic file, screenshot or support message. Your own Windows, backup or synchronisation settings may also cause information to be copied elsewhere.
Microsoft handles Store distribution, downloads, updates and Microsoft-account information under its own terms and Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft may make Store reports or diagnostic information available to publishers under its platform arrangements. This is separate from automatic uploads by Desktop Delinquents.
Installing missing Windows components or OCR language packs may require internet access. The application’s OCR processing itself is local.
6. Support communications
If you contact us, we receive the information you send, such as your email address, message and attachments. We use it to respond, investigate the reported issue and maintain necessary records.

Where applicable, we process support information to respond to requests relating to our service, for our legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining the application, or to meet legal obligations. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Support information is retained only as long as necessary for those purposes and applicable legal obligations. Please send only information relevant to your request.
7. Your controls and deletion
You can edit or delete snippets, reminders and custom dialogues, remove file shortcuts, and change preferences within the application.
Removing a shortcut does not delete the original file. Disabling a dialogue prevents playback but does not delete the saved entry.
You can avoid screen processing by not using Scan and avoid clipboard writes by not choosing Copy. Windows settings provide controls for notifications and clipboard history.
To remove remaining application data, first close the application using Quit, then remove its data files. This resets saved content and preferences.
Check separately for:
- Exported files and diagnostic reports.
- Dialogue migration backups.
- Leftover temporary folders named
desktop-pets-ocr-…. - Copies retained by backup or synchronisation services.
Do not assume uninstalling removes every exported file or backup. Ordinary file deletion does not guarantee forensic erasure.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information we hold about you, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where relevant.
You may also have the right to complain to a competent data-protection authority.
Contact us using the details below to make a request. We may need sufficient information to verify and respond to it.
We cannot remotely access or erase information that exists only on your device. You can manage that information through the application and local file controls described above.
9. Children
Desktop Delinquents is intended for an adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. Some dialogue packs contain adult language or humour.
The application does not ask users to create an account or provide their age. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through support, contact us so that we can review it and take appropriate action.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the application’s information-handling practices change and revise the effective date.
If future features introduce online accounts, cloud processing, advertising or purchases, we will explain the relevant practices before or when those features become available and obtain any permissions required by law.
